We have been exhibitors at SECURITY trade fair in Essen, Germany
The #SECURITY trade fair in Essen, Germany, just closed its doors. We highly appreciate that the Federal Ministry for Education and Research (#BMBF) has decided to present our results and demonstrators of the completed research project entitled “AUgmented DIsaster MEdicine” (#AUDIME) to the public.
We presented our helmet with integrated #SmartGlasses with diverse assistance systems including audio and video consultation to a #TeleExpert (connected to our #MedCast platform)…. but this is just one of various features provided…
We developed a smart-glasses-based system as “no-tech”-“high-tech” interface enabling
• #digitization of paper patient cards by scanning their QR codes,
• displaying context-sensitive information, #checklists and standard operating procedures (#SOP) for #triage and treatment and
• #TeleConsultation with experts such as the #TeleEmergencyPhysician.
Mass casualty incidents (#MCI) are debilitating for anyone involved – even for paramedics, physicians and fire fighters. Due to acutely lacking resources, they have to make hard decisions like who is going to be treated first, who has to wait and who has no chance to survive.
AUDIME aimed to develop high-tech systems supporting the helpers in critical decisions and in creating a better overview of the situation (number of victims, locations etc.). The special und unique idea of our project was to combine both – reliable and established paper-based cards that are used for “triage” and tagging of patients in MCIs and all advantages, digitization can offer even or especially in those critical situations.
We are proud of have being member of the great AUDIME consortium where researchers from university (#RWTH Aachen University, University Hospital RWTH Aachen) and industry worked together for the sake of our public safety.
