A video consultation or video consultation hour allows patients to consult with a doctor online without medical professionals and without undergoing medical examinations.
A teleconsultation—also known as a telemedicine visit or telehome visit—enables remote examination using telemedicine devices. In this remote treatment, a healthcare professional looks after the patient on site and, for example, measures vital signs or performs analyses.
The attending physician receives the examination results digitally and in real time without having to leave the practice. Telemedicine can ensure fast and comprehensive medical care, especially for immobile patients or in medical emergencies.
Telemedicine provides all patients with access to medical care. This applies in particular to patients who are immobile or live in more rural areas.
With the help of telemedicine solutions, chronic diseases can be better monitored and, in the event of a deterioration in health, rapid medical assistance can be obtained.
Telemedicine has been shown to prevent 40% of hospital admissions. Even after a hospital stay, telemedicine can help patients return to their home environment more easily.
Thanks to direct communication via video, the trusting doctor-patient relationship is maintained, patients receive personal attention, and do not need any technical equipment or knowledge.
Telemedicine products enable you to quickly contact your patients and conserve your resources. Studies have shown that family doctors practicing in rural areas can save up to 60 minutes of driving time by making greater use of telemedicine.
In addition, you and your practice team will have the opportunity to focus more intensively on patients in your practice, while NäPAs, VERAHs, EVAs, TMAs, or SAPV teams take care of telemedical care. In the long term, this will optimize the processes in your practice.
In principle, the products in our TeleDoc Portable range can be freely configured. If you bill for the use of telemedicine according to the family doctor-centered care (HzV) model, please ensure that the products listed above are included in your TeleDoc-Portable for this billing method.
All other modular systems, such as the electronic stethoscope, portable ultrasound, thermometer, patient monitor, pulse optimizer, and FireFly wound camera, can be selected according to your needs and those of your patients.
Your use of telemedicine can be billed as follows in accordance with primary care-centered treatment:
0060: A home visit by a VERAH with telemedicine training can be billed a maximum of four times per quarter. This does not apply in addition to a home visit by a VERAH nurse in accordance with No. 1417. The charge is €20.
0061: If a telemedical connection is established during a home visit by the VERAH, telemedical care provided by a family doctor can be billed at €15 up to once per quarter.
0062: Once per calendar year, a fall risk analysis can be billed at €13.
0064: Wound analyses with assessment, wound care, photo documentation, wound status according to PWAT score, and data transfers in the doctor’s office can be billed up to four times per quarter at €13.
Patients insured with Techniker Krankenkasse can also be billed €32 per visit (maximum 10 times per quarter).
If you bill your telemedical home visit according to the GOÄ, you will charge €5.83 according to GOÄ section 52. GOÄ item 52 can be combined with items GOÄ 1: €10.72 and GOÄ 5: €10.72.

According to EBM, telemedical home visits can be billed as follows:
Structural subsidies: as supplements to the general practitioner’s structural flat rate GOP 03040 – can be billed at 22 points according to GOP 03060 and at 12 points according to GOP 03061. This means that you can bill a total of 34 points.
You can bill 166 points for a visit by a dental assistant, including travel expenses, under GOP 03062, and 20 points as a surcharge under GOP 03064. This means that you can bill a total of 186 points.
A visit by a NäPA to other patients within the same social community and/or to patients for further postoperative treatment according to GOP 31600, including travel expenses, can be billed at 122 points according to GOP 03063 and at 14 points as a surcharge according to GOP 03065. A total of 136 points can be billed in this way.

We are happy to offer training courses on how to use the TeleDoc Portable in conjunction with the purchase of the product. All hardware and software functions will be explained to you and your staff during the training course.
The aim of the training is to familiarize you and your staff with as many features of our TeleDoc Portable as possible and to avoid any inhibitions in using the telemedical equipment right from the start.
In a teleconsultation, you, as the attending physician, are responsible for the telemedical healthcare of your patients on site.
Home visits—including those conducted as part of your teleconsultation—may therefore only be carried out by specially trained medical personnel. These include non-medical practice assistants (NäPAs), care assistants (EVAs), telemedicine assistants (TMAs), and care assistants in general practices (VERAHs).
The medical professionals may only act in accordance with your instructions. All measures taken must be documented and submitted to your practice by the following working day at the latest.
The hardware products of the TeleDoc Portable are manufactured according to modern, high-quality standards and are regularly inspected. Should an irregularity occur despite our high quality standards, please notify us immediately.
If the irregularity occurs within the statutory warranty period of two years and is not attributable to improper operation on your part, force majeure, interference by third parties, or an influence for which neither you nor we are responsible, we will of course repair the item free of charge or deliver a replacement.
